SAILING
Croatia is one of the best sailing spots in the Mediterranean.
It features various pleasant winds - Maestral,
Bura, Jugo, Tramontana - ideal for sailing experiences,
as well as numerous islands, beaches and channels
where one can do sail and enjoy almost untouched nature
in the heart of Europe.
There are no fewer than 1185 islands off the Croatian coast
and the 1778km coastline is studded with hundreds of splendid bays.
Sailing is truly the best way of discovering Croatia's remarkable coast.
Many of the finest Croatian islands, such as the Kornati
Islands National Park, are inaccessible without your own boat.
The Croatian coastline is perfect for sailing holidays.
With so many islands and ports, you can stop as many
times as you like or sail for as long as you wish.
For those who like their sailing to have a social dimension,
there are no fewer than 500 harbours and 50 fully serviced marinas,
each with restaurants, hot showers, mini-marts and weather charts.

SCUBA DIVING
With 3700 miles of coast and over 1000 islands,
there are many opportunities to engage in your
favorite sport of scuba diving in the Adriatic Sea,
in the heart of Europe.
The coastline, many coves, and islands of Croatia
are among
the most beautiful in the world and provide
idyllic settings for scuba diving.
The oldest localities containing the remains of sunken
ships date from the times of Antiquity,
and are to be found on the ancient trading routes
leading from Greece towards northern Italy,
and all the colonies founded along that route
on the shores of the Adriatic: Cavtat (Epidaurus),
Mljet (Meleda), Korčula ( Korkira), Hvar ( Pharos),
Vis (Issa), Split (Asphalatos / Spalatum), Solin (Salona),
Trogir (Tragurium), Rogoznica (Heracleia), anchorage
sites in the Kornati archipelago (Žirje, Lavsa, Murter),
the wider area of Šibenik and Zadar (Liburnia / Jadera),
Pula (Pola), Roman villas on the Brijuni islands,
and many other micro-locations once used by ancient mariners as refuges and anchorages.
The Kornati area is virtually inexhaustible in its
variety of locations offering quite specific types
of underwater relief: steep walls teeming with life,
underwater caves, crevices and passages covering a
large area of northern Dalmatia.
There are numerous diving centers and clubs along the coast of Croatia.
They organize diving courses for both , the beginners,
experienced divers and snorkeling courses for children.

BIG GAME FISHING
Adriatic sea is new destination for big game fishing.
Croatian coast is a habitat of one of most desired big
game fish - bluefin tuna.
The bluefin tuna has chosen Adriatic sea for
it's home and this is the only known place on earth,
where bluefin can be caught any time of the year.
They are present along the outer coast of the hundreds
of islands and often they come well inshore entering
channels.
The ultimate fishing challenge for many sport fisherman
is a - broadbill swordfish which is present in fair numbers.
September , October and November offer great
big game fishing for Amberjacks, which come in huge numbers in the Adriatic.
Blue sharks are sometime good choice for big game fishing
in Adriatic they are present here in great numbers
from second half of may to october!.
March and April offer great fishing for little tunnies,
which come in huge numbers in the inshore waters.
Little tunnies in Adriatic grow to sizes up to 13 kg,
during some seasons the average fish is around 10 kilos.

RAFTING
Rafting the rivers of Croatia is a wonderful way
to experience the unspoiled Croatian interior.
Along the coast, the rivers are flanked by green
banks and karstic canyons. Lush forests and mountains
border the interior rivers.
The grade of difficulty for most rivers is 3
but rises to grade 4 on the Dobra and Una rivers.
Following are some of Croatia's best rafting rivers:
Rafting is popular on the Cetina river,
but the best place to go if you want to drift
through canyons and hit the whitewater is Karlovac.
With three rivers converging within just a few miles,
there are multiple trips you can take from your base camp at Karlovac.
If you do decide to run the rivers around Karlovac,
your first day trip should be the Kupa river.
The Kupa runs through Risnjak National Park,
allowing you to see the park from the inside out
and see the complete path of the river as it
winds its way along.
Unfortunately, the Kupa river is only high
enough to raft during the spring.
Your second day of rafting should be on the Dobra River.
The Dobra was the first river in Croatia to
have commercial rafting trips grace its waters
and is one of the most popular places to get
wet with whitewater.

WINDSURFING
Adriatic has some truly great spots for windsurfing,
kitesurfing and what's the newest water gliding invention?
Famous location is Bol - island Brac. Well ... if you love
crowds, loud music, steep prices, you sure will love this place.
The winds in the channel between Peljesac and island
Korcula are excellent for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Korcula shares the same Peljesac Channel with Viganj
- a tiny place on Peljesac peninsula where windsurfing
regattas for the croatian championship has been held
for many years.
Ruskamen is one of the most popular windsurfing destinations in Dalmatia.
Ruskamen is also a well-known naturist destination,
with one of the oldest nudist beach on the whole Adriatic.
Punat on island Krk is more suitable for beginners and less
experienced surfers.
For skilled surfers more favourable is the southern part
of Istria where the currents are very strong
and winds 'demanding'.
